2025 Southeast University International Organizations Summer Study Program Concludes Successfully

To enhance students’ capacity to participate in global governance and address international development issues, Southeast University successfully organized the 2025 International Organizations Summer Study Program. Jointly coordinated by the Office of International Cooperation, the Academic Affairs Office, and the Student Affairs Office, the program was held from June 28 to July 6. A delegation of 28 students from 13 schools, led by faculty members and administrative staff, visited Geneva, Switzerland, and Vienna, Austria, engaging in in-depth exchanges with multiple international organizations.

During the Geneva session, the delegation visited key institutions including the World Trade Organization (WTO), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Permanent Mission of China to the WTO, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). Through lectures and discussions, students gained systematic insights into global trade governance, international standard-setting, labor rights protection, and humanitarian assistance. Topics such as digital trade, artificial intelligence, sustainable development, and multilateral cooperation were highlighted, enabling students to deepen their understanding of contemporary global challenges and governance mechanisms.

In Vienna, the delegation further visited major international organizations including the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO). Students learned about the peaceful use of nuclear technology, sustainable industrial development, and global nuclear monitoring systems. Through professional briefings and interactive exchanges, they developed a clearer understanding of how scientific expertise, international law, and policy coordination intersect within global governance frameworks.

The program also emphasized experiential learning and career development. Students actively participated in discussions, simulations, and academic exchanges, exploring potential career pathways in international organizations. The closing ceremony featured reflections from student representatives, who expressed their appreciation for the program and highlighted its impact on their academic planning and professional aspirations.

At the closing ceremony, university representatives and distinguished guests commended the students’ performance and encouraged them to pursue interdisciplinary development and contribute to global governance. Certificates of completion were awarded to all participants. The program not only broadened students’ international perspectives but also demonstrated Southeast University’s commitment to cultivating globally competent talents capable of addressing complex international challenges and contributing to global development.
