Jingzhe Mindfulness Tea Session Concludes Successfully: Connecting Hearts Through the Art of Tea
On March 11, at the beginning of mid-spring, Southeast University’s "Tea Heart Workshop" (Cha Xin Fang) officially launched its "Four Seasons Blossoming" 24 Solar Terms Wellness Series. The inaugural session, "Jingzhe · Jasmine Black Tea Ceremony," invited 18 students and faculty members to step away from their academic routines and follow the natural rhythm of revival and growth. Within the soothing steam of the tea, they embarked on a profound dialogue of spiritual awakening and interpersonal connection.

Awakening the "Emotional Soil" Through Natural Rhythms The session commenced with an immersive soundscape of spring rain and thunder, instantly creating a serene sanctuary amidst the bustling campus. Participants connected through "phenological cards"—images of budding sprouts or thawing rivers—to find their partners in a ritual of "destined encounters." In the "Emotional Soil" session, participants moved beyond their logical shells, using metaphors from nature to articulate their inner states. This creative psychological approach allowed for a safe and authentic exploration of emotions, grounding the session in a sense of belonging and self-awareness.
Zhu Siyu and Deng Yuyang transformed the aesthetic rituals of the tea ceremony into a set of profound metaphors for human connection. The "Six Gentlemen of Tea" (tea tools) became instruments of relational harmony—symbolizing boundaries and tolerance—while the "Phoenix Three Nods" brewing technique served as a ritual of respect for oneself, others, and the shared moment. This seamless integration of heritage and psychology allowed students to find stillness within the ritualistic process, realizing that, like the thunder of Jingzhe, sincere communication is meant to awaken rather than overwhelm, bringing forth the deepest fragrance of the human spirit.

The most vivid expression of this connection occurred during the "Collaborative Brewing" segment. Working in groups of six, students and faculty practiced rhythmic silence, replacing words with coordinated movements and shared intent. This non-verbal synergy allowed warmth to flow through their fingertips, dissolving social barriers and replacing digital-age isolation with a tangible campus support network. The ritual of serving tea to strangers further amplified this exchange of kindness, illustrating that campus life can be revitalized through the simple, profound warmth of a shared cup.
The journey concluded with a deep inner dialogue. Through "Three Rounds of Silent Drinking," participants achieved physical relaxation and emotional clarity. The experience culminated in the creation of "Jingzhe Letters," where participants sealed their spring aspirations alongside dried jasmine flowers. Heartfelt reflections—such as, "You are not a speck of dust in the shadow; you are a seed rooting deep in the night, yearning for the dawn"—captured the essence of the SEU motto, "Striving for Perfection" .
While the tea session has ended, the inner resonance remains. Following the natural rhythm of the 24 solar terms, the "Tea Heart Workshop" will continue to use tea as a bridge to provide emotional nourishment and spiritual peace, empowering the Southeast University community to grow toward the light with resilience and grace.
